Depending on the season, the children go together in search of the first heralds of spring, take a close look at the animals on the forest floor, collect colorful autumn leaves or get to know the animals' winter quarters. They experience Bonn's city forest with all their senses.

When out and about, many people leave their garbage behind in the countryside: either supposedly tidied up in the garbage can or they simply drop it. But what can happen if the garbage is left lying around? How long does it take for a bag of potato chips, a can or a plastic bottle to decompose? And does the forest actually produce waste too? We want to explore these and other questions together with fun and games and think about how we can avoid litter.

Why is the forest so important to us? Our forest is not only a place of recreation for many people. It purifies our air, is an important water reservoir, provides us with the versatile product wood and is a habitat for many animals and plants. And that's not all. On an exploratory tour through Bonn's city forest, the children learn about the forest's useful, protective and recreational functions in a playful way.

Together we get to know a wide variety of bee species, such as the - rather hairy - shaggy bee. What do the different species feed on? How can we protect their habitats - and why? And why would the world be so much less colorful and tasty without bees? Together we will explore these and other questions, snack on fresh honey and make seed balls for a bee-friendly garden.

Equipped with the nature park explorer vests, we set off on an exciting journey into the forest. The numerous pockets of the explorer vest offer space for a cup magnifying glass, insect suction cup, notebook, pen and identification aid. With various research tasks, we get very close to the animals and plants of the forest.

What are the properties of the soil beneath our feet and why are these properties so important for trees? During an excursion, the young people explore the soil, measure an area of forest under expert guidance and determine Husmus forms, soil organisms and the main tree species of the Kottenforst. In this way, the young people learn about the interrelationships in the forest ecosystem.

This workshop can be held between March and November.

With the fully equipped forest mobile, everyone - with or without a handicap - can experience the forest intensively. The fold-out side wings turn the forest mobile into a research center where the animals and plants found can be examined closely. The forest can be experienced with all the senses by exploring the ground and other activities.
